Waiting on God

This past weekend Dexter taught on pressing into God’s Presence and after the several weeks of teaching on prayer I am certain that God wants us to press in like never before. He wants us to seek Him in with prayer and fasting and then to wait on Him for guidance and direction. While doing my devotional reading this morning I came across a passage that really spoke on this subject…specifically waiting for a clear word from the Lord

You can read it here.

Notice in verse 7 it took ten days for Jeremiah to receive the response from God that he delivered to the people. Ten days! How many of us will wait on God for even 10 minutes before rushing off to complete things in our power rather than waiting for direction? The amazing part of all this is that the Lord told the people that they were not going to listen and sure enough the refused to listen and obey! After waiting 10 days they still did what they had already set out in their heart to do.

So I applaud them for waiting but I shake my head in utter disappointment that even after waiting for an answer they still decided to go against God!

Lord, help us to learn to wait on you for direction and help us to listen when you speak that we may continually please you!
