Dr. King the dreamer!

A new year has dawned and by now most of us have broken at least one of our New Years resolutions. The New Year came in like any other with hopes, dreams and desires of a new beginning. Along with the New Year we take time to celebrate great accomplishments by mighty men and women as we remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and then reflect on other great African American leaders throughout February. We all know that Dr. King dared to dream, his dream would later change the free world!

Today we are living the dream that Dr. King envisioned long ago. We have the most diverse group of candidates that we have ever seen making their bid for the White House. An African American, a woman, a Mormon, until recent changes a Hispanic, an actor from a popular television series, a former POW, an unknown Baptist minister and a well known former mayor of a major US city all trying to become the next President of the United States of America. I believe this kind of freedom, this kind of equality is what Dr. King dreamed about. A nation that sees beyond race and gender, a nation committed to finding the best leader regardless of what that person looks like. Dr. King dreamed a God size a dream! A dream that was impossible to see when he first spoke it into the air. A dream to Dr. King has become a reality to us today.

What dreams are you dreaming? Proverbs 29:18 KJV “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” We have vision when we dream. We dream when we are trusting God to do things that are greater than our own ability. When we dream God sized dreams than our nation will move in God sized strides. Will you dare to dream this year?
