Ambition
Philippians 2:3-4 “Don’t act out of selfish ambition or be conceited. Instead, humbly think of others as being better than yourselves. Don’t be concerned only about your own interests, but also be concerned about the interests of others.”
Selfish ambition can get the best of us before we know what hit us! I think it is only natural that we look out for ourselves first yet when we live for Christ then it is no longer us living but Christ living in us. When Christ is living in us then we have to look at people through His eyes. When our focus shift off of self and onto the needs of others then we are living the life of Christ.
How often do I let me own desires go so that I can serve the needs of others? The bible is full of really tough challenges for us to live by but I think this is the key to them all. Jesus taught us that He came to serve not to be served. This past weekend I saw this lifestyle being displayed by the members of ROCC as we went out and served Grace and Truth COGIC. Once again thanks to everyone that made Sunday so special. It is awesome when we can go out and serve another church. I am looking forward to September 30th with great anticipation as we once again reach out to another church and serve them with the love of Christ. Let us remember that we are called to serve each other sometimes that means serving people outside the church, sometimes it is serving people in our local church and sometimes it means that we need to serve people in other churches!
