Crazy Sermon Illustration Part III

October 28, 2007

This is the final sermon in our Halloween Sermon Series. The object was to find some interesting costumes and then give the stories behind the costume from the bible so that we can witness about Christ to our friends and family. This has been one of the most exciting sermon series I have ever done…I hope you have enjoyed the video’s

Date Night

October 25, 2007

Camille and I went out tonight and just enjoyed time together. Often we can be so busy that we neglect the people that mean the most to us. We both had plenty of work that we needed to do but we always have tomorrow for work. I believe we all need to learn to make the most of our time with the people we love. Tomorrow is not promised. So if I leave un finished work then someone else can complete it but I can never make up for time lost with a loved one!

Take time to let someone know that you love them!!

William’s School Choir

October 21, 2007

One of the greatest joys I think in being a Pastor is the ability to connect with the young people of the church. The joy of watching a student you know participate in sports, choir, band, drama or any number of other special events is really priceless. Over the last month I have been able to watch Charles Jr. compete in the grid iron sport of football. Most recently I attended a volleyball game in which Desirae shined like a star. Then I was unable to attend this event but it is certainly worthy to display the talent and ability of River Oaks Community Church’s very own…William as he sings with his school choir.

I will be posting another video highlighting the musical talent of Mike Jr and Camille as they lead worship at a service on the North side of Chicago.

I am so proud of everyone at ROCC that is letting God use you in so many ways!! Keep up the great work!

Great Night

October 20, 2007

Tonight was great! A group from ROCC all gathered together to go to a service up in the north part of the city. The trip was fun just because we have such awesome people in the church. The service was simply incredible. The best part for me was to watch the ROCC family go out and minister. Mike Jr., Camille and Dexter were all being used by God to minister and I was able to sit back and just worship God! I am so proud of what God is doing and it is an honor to just be part of His great plan!

Adoption has it privileges

October 18, 2007

The bible teaches us that once we accept Christ as our savior that we are then adopted into God’s family. This has always been a powerful truth yet today I noticed something while doing my devotional reading that hit me in a mighty way.

Jeremiah 31:36-37 “I am as likely to reject my people Israel as I am to abolish the laws of nature!” This is what the Lord says: “Just as the heavens cannot be measured and the foundations of the earth cannot be explored, so I will not consider casting them away for the evil they have done. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Reading this passage I noticed the extreme value God places on His children. I cannot imagine that God will ever abolish the laws of nature because they are what is needed to sustain the world He created. So if He is not going to abolish the law of nature then His word tells me that He will not abolish me because I have been adopted into the family of Israel through Jesus and the sacrificial price He paid for my life!

I have messed up and sinned against God more times that I like to admit, yet God is not willing to cast me out! Through Christ I have access into a family that the devil can never pull me out of!!

What an awesome God we serve!

Thank you Jesus for allowing me to enter into this royal family and receive all the privileges that a son of King is entitled to!

I am sure I could go on and on about this scripture but I really must begin to think about the sermon that God has for us this week. ROCC family…you don’t want to miss this one!

All is good!

October 17, 2007

Thank you for all the e-mails and calls about Camille…she is fine and was able to go to work. I was worried since I couldn’t get right to her yesterday but once again I have to thank God for giving us such an awesome church family! River Oaks Community Church really ROCKS! or I could have said ROCC really ROCKS!! :)

The new floors are looking great and I cannot wait until the carpet is down! Everyone liked what they saw today so I know when it is all completed then we are going to have an incredible looking church.

Lastly…I thought I had lost my wedding ring yesterday and I was beginning to get very upset over that. However, I told Camille that I did not know where it was then she told me that she had found a ring on our couch but thought someone must have lost it when we had everyone over Friday. She never thought it was mine because i never take it off. I was frantically looking for it because i remembered taking it off Sunday while we were taking up the carpet and I put in my pocket. When I checked the pocket I placed it in then I realized that it was gone! Thank God that what was lost now is found!!!
:)

Crazy day

October 16, 2007

Well…this is a rough day and it is only 9:30 in the morning. I had to leave at 5 this morning to drive to a hospital near the Wisconsin line so I could be with a family as we wait for a family member to go through surgery. While waiting I got a call from Camille, she was in an accident and the car had to be towed away. Fortunately we have a great church family and I was able to get Shane over to her. Now that would be enough to call this a crazy day but then I heard from the guys doing the new floor and we are having troubles with that as well! So to make a long story short…just pray for me today.
